Two Faced - Or What?

by Irish-Le-Feaux @ 2007-01-08 - 10:22:15

So Ruth Kelly - ex Education Minister, has decided to send one of her children to a public school. Unbelievable. This is just another example of the cynical one rule for them and one rule for us mentality of this present government.

Labour policy has been to close the "special schools", and integrate the pupils from those schools into the mainstream educational establishments.

It appears that Kelly finds that there is not enough locally available provision for her child who suffers from dyslexia so she has made the decision to send him/her to public school.

I wonder what parents of children with dyslexia who can't afford public school fees are doing for their children in the same locality and if the identification of a lack of local provision will be rectified.

IT STINKS

It's the same old, same old really. Blair et al have meddled with the schools so badly, none of them woulj trust their children's education with it, same as they haven't bothered to sign the petition pledging their use of the NHS as mentioned on NHS Blog Doctor.

Likewise, I don't see Euan Blair signing on for military service either.

It's the ultimate acid test of the snake-oil salesmen - if they don't touch their own product, then believe nothing they say about it.

In fact, of all the children of labour MPs that are in schooling, I know of only 2 who are in private education (the other one is Dianne Abbott's). No doubt there are more but your statement that none of them would trust their children's education to the state system is wrong.

In fact even Ruth Kelly isn't all bad. Only 25% of her children go to a private school and even then a reasonable person might agree that there are extenuating circumstances.

Ah yes, Diane Abbot who described sending children to private school "indefensible".

I wouldn't know the stats of their schoolchildren to be honest - a lazy assumption. Although Guido Fawkes notes that local schools are so bad in Kelly's area, he's suprised she takes the chance on sending anyone there.

Still don't see thjem queueing up for the NHS A&E department though, much lesspledging their families to its care on the petition lately. Mind you, once Tony had his heart operation, the unit that did it got closed, so he's past caring really.

Unless I am wrong of course, and politicians are not a bunch of people out for all they can get.

Dear Friends,

I am connected with an organisation called The Learning People, who have launched a UK petition on the Downing Street website to reclassify dyslexia as a thinking style rather than a disability.

You can access further information about the campaign, and sign up for newsletter updates, on our blogsite at http://www.dyslexia-gift.org.uk

If you are a UK resident or ex-pat British citizen, you can sign the petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk

Please help us publicise the campaign by telling everyone you know, and by passing the word around any other relevant networking groups you subscribe to.

Our sincerest thanks,

Tatjana Lavrova
