ASHAMED

by Irish-Le-Feaux @ 2007-11-21 - 23:05:14

That is how the bunch of multi-millionaire so-called football stars should feel tonight. Given a footballing lesson.

England not in the top 16 in European football. Diabolical.

I am truly gutted.

Irish

Don't be gutted. They aren't good enough for our support.

As I see the problem irish, weheras in Scotland they don't really expect their team to win, we English do expect to win at everything, football, rugby, cricket, etc,. Why should we?

Most unexpectedly, Greece won last time and that happens, a bit of luck, a bit of bad luck, too many having an off night, things that are outwith the control of a manager once the team get on the field, of course, you need the right manager in the first place.

Now to plan for the future, create a new team, drop Becks, Owen, Campbell, Defoe, Wright-Phillips, uncle Tom Cobley and all, build a team that will play together for the next 5 years.

We expect to win because we are a much bigger country than Scotland Joe. Perhaps we expect too much, in fact I am sure we do. This qualifying lark is not like winning the actual knock-out phase. This was done over 12 matches and failure was the outcome. All involved should take the rap.

Mclaren and Venables have, the players haven't and won't. Why because there is nothing to replacement this lot with. There are not enough players who qualify to play for England playing consistently at a high level to allow them to develop into international footballers. What we see now is only going to get worse. This team of under achievers is about as good as it is going to be until there is more opportunity for young English players in the Premier League. Very sad but I believe very true.

Aye irish, but, England are much smaller than germany, russia, spain, portugal, usa, iran, in fact almost every where, size of country does not come into it.

Get the right manager, search all the divisions for 20 good footballers, keep them together as often as possible, mix them with the more experienced players, ( gerrards had his day but ha can show them passion, becks the same )rooney and crouch are young enough to go forward, ignore the results of matches for the next year, but, and there is the rub, the media and fans will scream.
