Cheap Booze - So What?

by Irish-Le-Feaux @ 2008-02-24 - 10:08:11

Been a lot in the media just lately about our wonderful yoof going out and getting legless on the streets. As always the knee-jerk reaction is not to sort out the yoof, but to stop the sale of drink at cheap prices.

What a load of cobblers.

The solution to this lies with the parents of these little darlings. They should be responsible for the behaviour of their off-spring.

Is anybody seriously telling me that a 13 year old child can go out and get so pissed that he/she can't stand up and the parents of that child don't know they are doing it. Please!!!!!!!

Those amongst us that like a drink and don't finish up stabbing somebody, vomitting and/or urinating in the streets should not be hit in the wallet because of the woeful lack of parenting that this problem symbolises.

The two steps needed to move this problem on:

1. Ensure that the law is upheld and these thirsty little urchins cannot buy the booze when patently under-age.

2. Bring in a system of punishment for both the yoofs and the parents when the youngsters are found under the influence.

Difficult, costly? Yes. But it needs doing.

Tsk. What an old reactionary I am.

It's my opinion Irish that the ones to blame are the parents of their parents, it started there.

I see where you are coming from Joe but it is too late for the ones before the ones we have now. If you see what I mean?

Our society has been undermined for a couple of decades by the sandal wearing liberal thinkers who do not know the meaning of personal responsibility but always look for an excuse to hang the problem on.

Let's look at the parents of today and give them a jolt!!!

you are so right, when i heard this i thought they were again avoiding the issue. remember the story about intimidating teenagers in Bluewater shopping centre. Apparently hooded youths were worrying the shoppers, so what did they do? Ban Hoodies. Whatever committee came up with that idea must have been really limited in intellect. In what way is that solving the problem? That's like saying in order to stop, i dunno, car accidents happening at roundabouts, we;re going to remove roundabouts. just stupid.

Looks like it is you and me all the way on this one Dom. I'm and old reactionary, what's your excuse?

You are absolutely correct in spotting that this lot of bufoons will always take the soft option. Kids get drunk so it is the fault of the drink. Why do they say that? Easy. Becaus a can of beer or a bottle of booze does not have a vote!!!!!

Ha, I don' think it's reactionary, if it was I'm sure we would't have these problems! I just can't see anything good that our government has done for a long long time. I'm not cynical as I believe we as humans can achieve great things, as long as we're not encumbered by a gaggle of pen-pushing crooks and incompetants know as our country's leaders. The thing is, everyone you meet thinks exactly that, but nobody does nowt. What we NEED are reactionaries.

I think we are all singing from the same hymn sheet here, we are all fully aware that the lager swigging youth of today have little or no respect for anything. This, as we know is down to the parents of these louts. But it seems todays Government don’t understand the problem or they are unwilling to do anything about it. Not until one of they children is knifed will they tackle the problem.

This problem I believe started or maybe that’s the wrong word, become more apparent in the 1980’s under Maggie Thatcher (the milk snatcher) regime. Where every thing was made so easy and if you wanted something you got it on credit.. We are now paying for that attitude, when the youth of today want something they take it by force at the point of knife or just steal it. The goody goodies of this country believe that they human rights are being infringed if we don’t give them what they want. If a person wants human rights then he needs to respect the human rights of the rest of us.

Until people respect the rights of others then country will continue down the road of rack and ruin.
